Tinplate Roll
Tinplate Coil, also known as electroplated tin steel sheets, refers to cold-rolled low-carbon steel sheets or strips that are coated with commercial pure tin on both sides. Tin serves as a protective layer, preventing corrosion and rust. This material combines the strength and formability of steel with the corrosion resistance, solderability, and aesthetic appearance of tin.
Tinplate Coil possesses several advantageous properties, including corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, high strength, and good ductility. It offers excellent protection against corrosion while maintaining a safe and non-toxic packaging material. Tinplate packaging has a wide range of applications in the packaging industry due to its ability to provide effective sealing, preservation, light-proofing, durability, and unique metal decoration charm.

A tinplate coil is a steel plate with a thickness ranging from 0.10mm to 0.32mm, coated with a layer of pure tin on its surface. It is commonly referred to as tinplate due to its composition. There are two production methods for tinplate coils: hot plating and electroplating.

The hot plating method results in a thicker and uneven tin coating, requiring a higher amount of tin and resulting in lower efficiency. As a result, the hot plating method is gradually being phased out in favor of the more efficient electroplating method. Electroplating offers higher productivity, lower costs, and the ability to achieve thin and uniform tin coatings with controlled thickness.

In addition to standard tinplate coils, it is also possible to produce low-single tinplate coils with a tin content of 1g/m. However, these coils require pretreatment layers or post-processing layers to enhance corrosion resistance and weldability, ensuring they meet specific process requirements.

Tinplate coils find widespread use in the food industry for packaging and the manufacturing of corrosion-resistant containers. Their unique properties, such as corrosion resistance, solderability, and aesthetic appeal, make them a popular choice for preserving and protecting food products and other items.
